We are a group of Hillsdale students who gather weekly to study, sing, and share hymns with one another and our community, seeking to draw closer to God through rich biblical truths expressed in timeless songs of praise.
Our Mission
Study Hymns
Each week we carefully examine a hymn in light of Scripture, asking: What was the context in which the hymn was written? What Bible verses is this hymn based on? What truths about God does it express? What do the words really mean, and how can we apply them to our lives? Through study, we sing from the heart, understanding the rich biblical truths behind each hymn.
Sing Hymns
We worship God together through song, singing requested hymns and rejoicing in fellowship over God's mighty deeds as revealed in the Bible. Hymns help us carry Scripture in our hearts, making memorization easier and prayer more natural. They accompany us through all of life's moments, turning our minds to God's Word and drawing us closer to Him.
Share Hymns
We minister to the local community through musical performances at Bread of Life, senior housing centers, and other venues. We bring song and joy to those in need, especially the elderly who deeply appreciate hymns they remember. Through our singing, we aim to encourage people while proclaiming the saving truth of the gospel.
Why Hymns?
Timeless Truth
The hymns that have been passed down through the ages are the best of the best—they have stood the test of time because they most deeply reflect truths about God and our relationship with Him. The God we praise is the same yesterday, today, and forever; a hymn that expresses His goodness remains relevant across centuries.
Richly Biblical
Hymns are full of biblical truths, with language that reflects the richness of Scripture. Set to music, they help us memorize and carry God's Word with us, becoming prayers for all of life's joys and struggles. Singing hymns shapes our hearts and minds with God's truth, helping us meditate on Scripture and draw near to Him throughout each day.
Simply Accessible
Hymns are accessible to everyone—they have simple melodies and rhythms that help keep the focus on the text and what it says about God, rather than on complex musical arrangements. They were designed for communal singing, uniting the entire body of Christ.
